Help on appraisal

I have this Luger and am not sure of it's worth. Any help would be appreciated. It has some pitting and was reblued at one time.

Al, welcome to the forum!

The artillery, being reblued is worth from $600-$900, depending on the day and who wanted one. The snail magaizne is worth more than that, $900-$1500, again, depending on originality, if it works, etc.

Al,
Your trommelmagazine is different than any that I have seen. Do you see any manufacturers markings or military proof marks on it? The numbers are considerably smaller than those on my Bing manufactured model. I think that Ed is right on the money as far as the Artillery Luger value is concerned.
Welcome to the forum.

Bill...there are not any other markings on the magazine that I can see. Any idea what it is?

Al, your Trommelmagazin is strange. The serial number is far too low for a type III made by Bing. Some details of the construction are a bit odd such as the three crimps on the rib that runs the length of the throat of the magazine and the location and placement of the serial number on the face of the drum.

The best quick discovery of your mags authenticity is to weigh it. An accurate weight will reveal whether it has real "guts" or is just a shell.

One last observation I can make is that the loading arm appears to be locked in the load position. If it is a real TM08, the spring may be seriously weakened if in this position too long.

Thanks for the reply George. I just used my (cheap) kitchen scale and it weighs about 13-14 ounces.

George Anderson 02-07-2006 11:06 AM

Al, it should weigh about twenty-five ounces so yours is probably a copy.

Thanks again George. Any idea what something like this might be worth?

George Anderson 02-07-2006 01:07 PM

Al, if it is indeed a copy, it could be sold as such on Ebay where you will get the highest price. My guess is about $200.
