Luger on LOST...

I don't know if there are any fans of the series LOST on here, but tonight
they had a Luger make an appearance on the island. It is kind of the usual Hollywood sort of mistake, they make on a usual basis. You can hear the guy **** the hammer as he pulls the Luger out...

Yeah, but you hear that same, soundstage noise every time some one pulls out a gun on screen. I've always thought that was stupid. I'm sure that the great unwashed thinks it sounds cool, and makes a big impression on their blank psyche, but I cringe every time it happens.

The only sound I ever hear when I present from the holster is the "tick" of the safety being released... :)

Still, it's nice to see a real gun on TV for a change... :D

what really p----s me off is when the idiots run around in a "ready to shoot" situation and when they finally come face to face with the bad guy, they work the action of their gun to chamber a round. As if anybody in their right mind wouldn't already have one up the pipe!:grr:

They are being safe - so the wrong person will not get injured.
:)

I Agree...

I never understand why they have to do that either. I guess it looks more intimidating to see someone operate the action in front of someone. Another common thing I notice, is whenever an auto handgun is in use, you see the action lock open during a scene. Doesn't matter how many rounds they fire, it just hapens to lock open at that moment, just in time for a scene change. You know they wanted the actor to fire just so many shots, so thats all they put in it. It locks open and the scene changes. Watch to see if they reload. Nope, It's ready for the next shooting session, automatically...

Yeah, and don´t forget those ten-shot revolvers! :D

Picky, Picky, Picky! I find it more interesting to wonder how long the bad guys have been on the island and where they are from, to still be using WW2 German ordnance. Why they want childern? To build an Army, as was mentioned, or are they just pedifiles as the which the father implies? Get into the story guys. TH

thegundude 01-19-2006 12:47 PM

LugerDoc, I assume you saw last nights show, right? I only caught part of it - my SO watches it - but there was this black cloud with elecrical energy in it. What the heck was that? I didn't know this was a Sci-Fi show... I might have paid more attention to it if I'd known...

Rod WMG 01-19-2006 03:05 PM

Steve, What was the "growl"?

Let's see, **** the hammer, cycle the slide....

thegundude 01-19-2006 04:02 PM

LMAO @ Rod!! :D

Johnny C. Kitchens 01-19-2006 10:11 PM

The cloud you saw was the first appearance of the so called "monster" that has been there sll along, but we the viewers never got to see it. It has been knocking down trees and carrying off people. just one of many mysteries to keep us thinking about what we will learn in the next show...

thegundude 01-20-2006 10:52 AM

Thanks Johnny. So it's a Sci-Fi after all... :D

Lugerdoc 01-22-2006 10:37 AM

Steve, Sci-Fi is right. Please their computer controls keeping all the evil spirits under ground and the misuse of the compete by Walt emailing his father, released this one. Perhaps the surface inhabitant are also "evil" in some way or other and sent to this "devil's island" for a reason. TH
