I'm really going to do it this time..
I've been saying this for years, but this time its for real. Within three weeks or so I'm dropping from fifty guns to about five. Too many security issues.
All will be face to face here in Alabama or through a rep at gunshows. I am not advertising. Just stating the facts. My middle son got my DSA FAL over Christmas, oldest wants the Colt AR, will put up an Inland M1 for daughter. I'm keeping a Marlin 336 30-30 for hunting, an AK variant for home and camping, a Rossi 12ga stagecoach for home, a .40 Beretta, Colt Trooper .357 and a Walther PP. I really feel a sense of relief. Has to happen sometimes. rk |
I've been working over the same issue here, toss the entire collection and hunt around the world before it is to late.....I understand the feeling.....best to ya

No Lugers?!!!
|
RK: I'm with John on this one. Make it 6 and keep a luger.
|
I've been giving some thought to doing the same thing, when I check out the wife would have no idea what to do with them or how much they are worth.

When I was in my late fifties I also became concerned about mortality, so I dumped my entire collection of guns in one fell swoop, many of which were entirely irreplaceable. Soon afterwards I began to feel a terrible void, something like the empty feeling after losing a beloved dog. Eventually I felt deeply compelled to rebuild my collection. I am now 75 and have about 300 guns. I will not dump them again for at least 20 more years. You can always dispose of guns. Replacing them is an entirely different matter.

Make a list here. Someone might be interested in the ones your selling....

RK,
If you follow through, you'll quickly regret it. Been there, done that. My guns are like pets or good kids. Sell them and you'll miss them (well maybe not the kids). |
I agree, if you sell them, you have "money".
For around $125 a year I got insurance for ALL my collection, if something happens, well, I'll be ticked, but can replace them! once I did that, I quit worrying about them. keep some locked up, some on my wall. I figure with my big dogs, sure-shot wife and me with a 45, that thugs will leave me alone. if not, that is what insurance is for. Ed |
