1842... Technically not a Luger
Strictily speaking this post is in the wrong section but since I believe the subject will only be of interest to Swiss Luger collectors, I'll nevertheless post it here.
Here's an 1842 militia pistol that has equipped both the Confederate army (with Swiss cross) and the cantonal militias (with cantonal marking). This one has been used by the militia of the canton of Vaud http://www.admin.ch/ch/img/wappen/kt-vd.gif and has been marked accordingly. http://img303.imageshack.us/img303/3640/184215zy.jpg http://img303.imageshack.us/img303/6339/184225ps.jpg http://img303.imageshack.us/img303/7850/184233wc.jpg http://img303.imageshack.us/img303/852/184245tx.jpg It was the regular gun used at the time of the Swiss civil war "Sonderbund-Krieg" in 1847 that led to the modern Swiss federal State (1848). More details on the gun/militia of Vaud can be found here: Feulibre |

To me it's a stunning pistol. Thanks for sharing.
I'm pretty ignorant on these things, but was the lanyard ring common on such pistols? |
Thanks for the flowers.
