Luger for concealed carry?

As anyone here ever tried to use a Luger for carry? for like personal defense or at least home defense? Just wondering because my grandfather before he died used to keep his Luger P.08 that he brought back from the war in his glove compartment when he went places and he kept it on his night stand before he went to sleep.

no need for that in my life now.. thank God for that:)

I figure it would work fine, but no, would rather have a 45 or something else that is not a collectable. Rather you are right or wrong, there is a good chance it will be taken into police custody until the matter is completely finalized.

Better to buy a Makarov or a 1911A1 clone.

PSH Beretta is waaaaaaaaay better the Glock:rolleyes: :D But i do admit i do have a 2nd Gen Glock 17:D But as a carry piece i would like to get a Heckler Koch P7m8 or maybe a Para P14-45. now that would be a nice weapon

Like Chevy vs Ford, there's really no one choice for CC, IMHO.

Personally, I carry a S&W Chiefs Special in .45. It's light, small and is a big bore. It conceals very well and after all, I'm not going to be target shooting with it.

I shot a Glock for the first time this past weekend and was very disappointed. I was hitting 10x rings with a Para LDA Carry but couldn't hit the target at all with the Glock. No offense to the Glock guys, but I'd never own one.

That said, I'm a Colt guy through and through but I carry a damned Smith... Go figure...

I really like colts. But the only gun i got from colt along with my only 1911 is my Colt MKIV Series 70.

Wow... that's a little.... ummmm..... disturbing.

But I guess there's more than one way to say "I love you".... :D

Yup, ya gotta love a 1911. And a Luger.... and M1..... and a SAA..... (there's more, but what's the point?) :p

This may be hard to believe but shooting a glock good takes some getting used to but once you master the trigger pull it will make you a better shooter with all your weapons. JMHO clint

thegundude 12-28-2005 08:39 AM

You're right Clint. That is hard to believe.... :p

Tac,

What is it that they say about great minds? Sig 220, eh?

When I'm serious about a carry piece. This is the one I carry. Never a glitch, never a failure, no matter what I load it with. Sorry to say that wasn't the case with the .40 Glock that I had.

It also resides in an easy to get to spot for investigating those little suspicious sounds in the night, that make the dogs ears come up.

The Meth Tweakers passport to their 72 virgins. The worse it gets, the worse it gets.

I can only hope that it never gets that bad.

lmao yea now that i think about it, it kinda was disturbing. But back when i sent it i thought it was funny cuz i consider myself a gun nut. Heck almost everyone i know if they see any kind of guns "especially Lugers" either in person or in movies they automatically think of me:D

Speaking of defense. We had an interesting and alarming incident near here three weeks ago.

Three 20 something Methheads dressed in camo and ski masks performed a home invasion at a rural residence. Armed with two revolvers, they tied up the 50 yr old man, his wife and son, and began to ransack the house for valuables.

The man managed to get free. The hairballs fired 12 shots at him as he dodged around the house from room to room. Finally attacking all three with a baseball bat. They fled from the house and were found in the woods the next morning suffering from hypothermia in freezing rain.

The man and his family were unscathed.

Ron, that's a beautiful story... Kinda brings a tear to my eye.... :)

Just goes to show that a gun without a brain is useless... :D

As my old Sargent use to say: Son fear the man-not the weapon!

I got a laugh out of it. A police officer friend of mine told me that just once in his career, he would like to arrest a rocket scientist.
