The choice
Hi everybody,
I have the opportunity to choose between a P08 1937 and a P08 1939 model. Both seems to be in the same condition. From a collector point of view, what is the better choice ? Thanks for your replay. Regards, Stef :bigbye: |
Hi Stef. Your question is difficult to answer without more information. There are three variations of the 1937 (actually there are more, but the variations are minor). These are 1) Strawed (Golden or Yellow Colored) Small Parts without a Mauser Hump (or Bump or Nose), 2) Strawed Small Parts with a Mauser Hump and 3) All parts blue and a Mauser Hump. The 1939 has two major variations (actually more, but again they are minor). These are 1) Toggle Marked S/42 and 2) Toggle Marked 42.
Based on quantity produced, these would rank as follows: 1) 1937 Strawed Small Parts with a Mauser Hump 2) 1939 S/42 Toggle 3) 1937 Strawed Small Parts without the Hump 4) 1937 All Blue 5) 1939 42 Toggle. Of course, the condition has to be assumed equal. If this is not true, the ranking would change. Good Luck |
May I ask what a Mauser hump is?

Thanks! Never noticed that before. Now that I know, yes I can see that. :)
