barell removal

Hi,
Can anyone out there tell me the correct procedure for barell removal for the luger.?

You need a bbl wrench and a special wrench that fits the receiver. Without these specialty tools you stand a very good chance of twisting the receiver and ruining it. Even with these tools, I ruin about 50% of the bbls that I remove, although I have never damaged a receiver.

Tony,

Use the "search" funciton at the upper right hand corner. Search for "barrel wrench" and you will see some informative previous postings...some with photos of the special tools needed.

Tony, In addition to the correct barrel wrench that Hugh mentioned, a good strong hydralic press (vise) with the correct brass shims if you intend to install a new barrel without maring it. Also, if you are installing a GPC barrel, you can count on having to do a final chamber ream for it to headspace properly. Particularily with these barrels, first check that the front sight base and the extractor groove line up before beginning installation, as this is not always a given. TH

This is more sepcialized than just popping on a new barrel, I have had both of the above guys (Hugh and Tom) install one for me.
