Sturmgeweher44
What is the availability of this weapon? What are market prices?
|
This is a rather rare item that is Class 3 (Full Auto)... for that reason there are not many of them. I suggest you visit Subguns.com and Biggerhammer.net for this type of item. That is where the Class 3 community congregates. If I had to guess what a legal Sturmgewehr 44 price was, I would guess between $10,000 and $20,000 (yes that is THOUSAND) dollars...
BTW, I see that you are an ex-Nike Nuke vet. I served two years as the Communications Site Chief at Ceggia, Italy 1986-1988 operating the Cemetery Net in support of the 34th USAAD... I retired right after they rotated out our Nukes prior to deactivation of our site... |
NIKE Hercules - still has to be considered one of the most accurate missile systems ever developed, capable of clearing out about a cubic mile of airspace with one missile. Thank goodness it was never called upon to do that, but it sure deterred the bad guys from doing something foolish like launching a mass attack on the US or its allies. I started out as a fire control maintenance man during the last phase of the transition from Ajax to Hercules. After that, I commanded a custodial team, was a battery commander and a Bn S-3. I really liked that system.

This example is fairly typical:

John, not bad in pricing, but if I was on antique roadshow, they would say, between 16-20 K :D not 10K diff!
:) |
At the last gunshow here in september they had one with a curved barrel for shooting around corners on display.

Wow! The price must be indicative of this weapons availability, its place in history.
Yes, I was stationed on Nike Ajax (NJ) and Nike Herc(Nebraska) between 1960 and 1966. Was an IFC operator, then trained on FUIF maintenance, then ABAR maint. at Ft Bliss. Liked to work on the ABAR radar! FUIF was great to troubleshoot! |
I should have mentioned, ed-thelen.org is dedicated to the Nike program and has tons of stuff. Recognized by several other sites as the best Nike info on the internet.

Actually much of the price has to do with gun control laws passed in 1968 and 1986. Due mostly to the latter law, M16 rifles by any maker (never mind colt) are over $10,000, and even the MAC SMG's are around $3,000+.

Ok, we have some MP-44 STURMGEWEHR here at Ukraine. The price is from 6.000$ to 8.000$. Due to the gun control law ΓΆ?? the barrel is drilled (so for collectors only) . Condition of all carbines is NEW from warehouse.

These guns are just my favorites.....I've always had a fondness for them.
