1680 family plate on my house
Hello Friends,
This nice historic plate belongs to my house. It is installed on a wall. It is dated 1680 or 81 (see top of the plate). I guess this plate related to a important family of Liege in Belgium. Do you have any idea were I can find out information about the history of this item? I would like to increase my knowledge about an item that I meet every day walking inside my house. Any help is really appreciated. Thanks  http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload...__reduced1.jpg |
I saw these on various houses in Liege, and the Maastricht area when I lived there. I would think that the local town hall would have information on the families and houses, they did in the netherlands.

Mauro, Is this like a coat of arms for the family that built the house? Very interesting.

It could be a family heraldic crest of some sort. The other possibility is that it is a guild crest. I hope someone can identify it.

Mauro,
The stone was probably originally embedded in the back of a fireplace. There is a Heraldic society in Belgium, but their website appears to be offline at the moment. |
Hello Guys,
Thank you for the info. I will try to contact the heraldic society here in Belgium. I will keep you informed. In the meantime all additional info are really appreciated. Ciao Mauro |
