Shipping Ammo?
How can ammo be legally shipped by individuals. I have some collector grade (Tiger Box) Weatherby ammo I am selling but I am unsure on how to ship it? Thanks! Thor

I have never shipped ammo Thor, but I believe it must be shipped by UPS. Check one of the ammo websites and see how they ship it... like cheaperthandirt.com or ammoman.com
Hope that is helpful, John S |
Ted, I believe ammo must be shipped as a hazadous material and a hefty fee charged. This prevents small box ammo shipments due to costs. Jerry Burney

LEGALLY you can not throw it into a USPS box! ;)
So, you must ship it ground UPS or Fedex, you are required to have a tag / sticker thingy put on it, stating it is ammunition, a form of hazardous material. It does not cost extra, but ammo is just heavy. I have shipped a box for around $5 or $6 buckeroos, a larger amount is cheaper (perse', as UPS ships in volume), so 4 or 5 boxes is less than $20 to ship. I traded a guy a bunch of 5.56 for WW2 45 ACP, we just shipped it UPS to each other. Ed |
Thor,
I just bought some 270 wby mag ammunition from another forum member. He shipped UPS but the local driver gave him a hard time initial. It did get out with a tag saying it's ammo or hazardous material. I haven't received it yet but I do have the tracking numbers, so I expect it will get here. Any other Wby ammo to sell? I could use some 257? Thanks, Bob M. |
UPS Ground is the way to go
You will need a sticker that says: "ORM-D small arms ammunition" affixed to the shipping box! |
