Police rework?

1 Attachment(s)
Sirs:
I know almost next to nothing about Luger P08's.
I picked this rig up at a gun show awhile back for a shooter. I realize it has little collectors value. The fekkow I got it from said it was either a Russian or East German Police rework. It is a DWM 1917 #9594. I know the original magazines had wooden bottoms. This has aluminum WWII type bottoms which are numbered to the gun and a 1 & 2. There is a very faint marking on the side of the receiver which looks like"E.C.C.S.A. and (unable to read) N.J. The original proof marks are present but there are other marks(Nazi?) which have been stamped out with an "o"
Also what is this holster? All the Luger holsters I have seen have a strap & buckle. This has the the flap with a hole and brass stud. The pistol fits the holster well. There are no markiings on the holster. The gun is in excellent condition with new wood grips and a fantastic bore. I removed the grips and there are no markings on the metal or wood.

Can you give me an idea what I have?

Thanks!

I know you are asking how to post more photo's... you can reply to your own thread and post one at a time, or upload like I suggested.

Read all through this forum (but we are welcome to answer questions too! )

Welcome to the forum man!

Ed

PS, and it sounds like you have a police holster...

The 1 & 2 on the mag bottoms means it is police, although if East German, it is a bit different than what I collect (weimar police)

Hank,
* Welcome to the Forum !!

* The attached thread may shed some light on your markings.
http://forum.lugerforum.com/showthre...ght=E.C.C.S.A.

* Been a couple or 3 threads on DDR reworks. Do a search on "E.C.C.S.A." for some further examples.

* Saw one for sale @ Jerry Hubbard's site. Seems to have a pretty "healthy" asking price. http://66.34.20.105:9080/productcata...h=view&id=2281

* Glad to see one made it out of Texas; as all I've seen or heard of migrated to the Lone Star State it seems.

* Trust this helps
Respectfully
Bob:rolleyes:
