Luger

Looking for more information on a Luger stamped 1920-1918. It is also stamped with the following: cesi chert, serial #6990 and stamped in several places 90.

Re: Luger

Your Luger is either a DWM or Erfurt made in 1918. The 1920 is a property stamp. Most major small parts will be stamped with the last two digits of the serial number.

You apparently have a "matched" WW I military Luger. The gun was made in 1918 during the Great War and was reissued during the Weimar Government period [1920-1933] The 1920 is a Weimar Government property stamp. These markings on the gun are often referred to as a "double date".

The two digets on all the small parts of this Luger should be the last numbers of this weapon's serial number. If all these numbered parts are the same as the last two of the serial number, then the gun is considered to be matched.
