Lugers in the Flicks
Don't know if "Shoot at the Devil" has been listed. Lee Marvin and Roger Moore, ivory poachers in WWI German East Africa, set out to sink an Imperial German cruiser. A German officer slowly raises his P08 (full screen close-up) to shoot poor Roger; who hasn't seen him and is a sitting duck. However, Roger's sweety saves the day by placing her rifle's muzzle on the hapless officer's temple. Hurrah, hurrah.

Re: Lugers in the Flicks
Would you expect anything less to anyone pointing a gun at 007?
|
Now that you mention it---Nope (EOM)

Re: Lugers in the Flicks
Ahem! Roger Moore was not 007. Sean Connery was 007. Moore was merely impersonating 007! ;-)

Re: Lugers in the Flicks
Speaking of which, didn't a luger appear in the Bond film "For your eyes only'?
|
And Tonight-Lugers on the Tube
Tonight Captain Hastings, Hercule Poirot's friend, carried a Luger ready to rescue a damsel in distress in "Murder in Mesopotamia" on A&E. Since coming to the Forum, I'm seeing Lugers everywhere!

Re: Lugers in movies
"Days of Glory", 1944, introducing Gregory Peck as a Soviet resistance fighter. Authentic Lugers and gear, except one German officer has a holster with a cleaning rod on the front instead of an extra mag. And GP, even tho playing a Soviet Officer, has a Thompson SMG with drum mag. Lend lease I guess!

Re: Lugers in movies
As a matter of fact almost 138,000 .45 caliber submachine guns of all types were Lend-Leased to Russia between 1941 and 1945.

Re: Lugers in movies
... After seeing dozens of movie prop Lugers, and a few Thompsons, advertised on Ebay, I'm curious as to how often a dummy was used in scenes that didn't require shooting...
