Clint,

This one has been on the Internet for nearly a year or so. If I remember one time, it had a buy-it-now price of nearly $ 9K...

The holster and belt is not Dutch but Bulgarian...not worth more than $ 125 or so...

The capture paper might be bogus...would have to see it in person. But how does a gun that is in the East Indies get captured in the European TO...???

The folks at Simpson's have a nice looking Dutch luger for sale...asking is $ 2950...but asking is usually only that...I would ask if the barrel is original DWM or Indonesian GS armory replaced.

Ive really got the fever to get a good luger and Im glad I have this site to guide me, Ive got a nice 1870 Remington rolling block Im gonna sell and turn into a luger. Those capture papers had me really licking my chops. I sent a donation in by paypal but its the first time Ive used it. How do I know if I done it right? Thanks clint

Ask this jerk to show you the complete "capture paper", it may well be a European "bring-back" just as well as a Pacific "bring back", either one would be interesting. The approving officer's signature block will include unit information. With that info you can do some internet research to determine where this unit might have been in 1945.

If all seems right, the price is good and he offers three day inspection, go for it and report back.

Rolling block for Luger?

Rolling block is cool. Many Lugers out there. Let the fever subside and bide your time. Even if you are not into RB's anymore, the investment potential is great over the next 20 years.

Hi,

Yes, this pistol has been discussed before, both here and on Jan Still's forum. The guy initially only had the pistol and the capture papers (I remember the leitz projector). He later collected the holster. As the pistol was taken from a German, it's not unlikely that the German himself obtained it in the Netherlands. This is a Dutch NAVY pistol and not a Dutch KNIL pistol. Navy had boats, KNIL had islands :)

G.W.
I am sure your right as I have had the fever before! I have never been into RBs and just picked this on up in a trade a few years ago. I may contact this guy as George suggests and see if I can get enough info from him to justify bidding. Thanks for all the help from all. clint

Clint, good advice above. Maybe I am not awake, but what the #$%^ is a RB ?? ;)

Clint, I have one of these Remington rolling blocks as well...Does yours have a Navy type anchor over the top of the barrel? Thanks, Jerry Burney

c3006 09-18-2005 07:32 PM

Yes jerry it has an I then below that an H.E then the ancor. Do you have pcs of yours? Thanks clint

Hugh 09-18-2005 08:36 PM

Somewhere I read a discussion of the "navy anchor" mark on Remington mdl. 51 pistols. Many people are under the false impression that this is a US Navy ordance mark. Actually it is only a Remington proof or inspection mark.
