Humourous tale

I came across this very funny tale of some Mauser Parabellums and thought that I would share it with the forum.

Definitely an interesting story. Too bad he didn't document the Lugers more for historical reasons...

The Mausers would have been along these lines:

They also had a bunch of leftovers after every IWA (large international German arms show).

These were offered for sale again.

Pictures like these remind me of he covers of DWJ (Deutsches Waffen Journal). My father collected nearly 30 years worth of this magazine. The contents were amazing and you would see articles of everything from ancient swords and crossbows from the Middle Ages (in breathtaking condition) to every aspect of firearms. These would include Jezzails, muzzel loaders, wheel locks, cannon, as well as modern firearms.

They always had some gorgeous weapon on the cover, like a Borchardt that was mint unfired in its presentation ase with original ammo and engraved Mauser C96's and Lugers that were phenomenal quality.

Sadly, the entire contents of the magazines were in German and my command of the language is passable only - 'Ein Bier, bitte' and 'Wo is das Wasserschrank?' - you know, the fundamentals :)

Not knowing what to do with these magazines I searched around high and low for someone to come and take them from me. Free and clear. Finally one person told me he would take them if I shipped them to him. I had no intention of lugging heavy boxes to the Post Office and reminded him I would only give them to someone who came by.

So in the trash they went. In retrospect, maybe I should have just torn the cover off each of those magazines. Oh well, hindsight always 20/20.
