Trier District Police
Here is some pics of my Trier District P08. I'll leave it up to the forum members to decipher where it has been and who has worked on it. It would be a good exercise for the newer collectors.

Steve,
Nice "scarce, if not rare" Police rework. Landj¤gerei unit marks come second only to Reichswehr unit marks for my interests. Thanks for letting us see it. Ron |
Why would the barrel have "4" on it...
|
Steve,
Ron's "Scarce, if not rare" is an understatement! To my knowledge, this may be the only extant example of a police unit mark from the Trier District. Thank you very much for posting these photos. May I have your permission to use it in future publications? I, too, will be very interested in hearing some expert opinions on all the other proofs and marks. |
Ron,
Your welcome. Don, Not a problem. I thought that you would be interested since you did not have another example. Pete, I don't know what the 4 on the barrel represents unless it is some sort of grade. The diameter 8.84 is somewhat unusual as you don't see many with this diameter. At least I haven't. |
Started out life as a 1918 DWM LP-08.
Simson barrel. Left marks: Simson eagle/6 inspection stamp from 1920; 1920 Simson Revisions-Commision eagle/RC. Right barrel: Simson test proof, probably 1920; PTV "Police Armory" stamp (jury is still out on "Technical Police"). No inspection stamp on replacement rear toggle link, which is unusual. 4 is anomalous. The odd 8,84 land diameter could result from Simson manufacturing practices. --Dwight |
