Sellier & Bellot Caution
Folks,
S&B 115gr FMJ is a favorite cartridge, it works very well in my Lugers, it can be had cheaply at gun shows here (in Portland) at times. However, anyone shooting it regularly should be cautious. In the past year I have had two or three duds, one round with a primer inserted sideways (found it before I fired it), and just today had a split case (didn't hurt anything, but I had to pry it out). I'm thinking of maybe changing ammunition. --Dwight |
WOW! No kidding?
It sounds like they are going down the same quality control gutter that Remington was in, back in the mid '90s. I really like S&B ammo too. I guess I'll have to check out my reserve stash . Bummer!! Thanks for the heads up Dwight. Ron |
Hi Dwight,
Observed one or two busted cases and a few dead primers. I shoot S&B 124gr by default. Really like the stuff and it's not worse than the other products available to us over here (like GeCo 9mm). Thanks for the warning, though. |
I would echo this. I had the same thing happen with my brand new SIG a year ago. It is also about the quickest way to dirty up your pretty gun that I have yet to find. Man is that stuff nasty.
I really prefer the Win-clean. You can hardly tell it was shot after 100 rounds. |
Thank you Dwight, that has been my ammo of choice up until just now.
