Best way to sell a 1918 erfurt luger?
I am needing to sell a 1918 Erfurt that I bought a few months ago when money was much more plentiful than today.
I bought this gun from a guy at work but now that I need to sell or trade it I don't know where to go. Would going to a gun show like in Houston or Dallas be the best way to handle this? I am wanting buy a Bennelli M1 12 ga shot gun before duck season opens but can't afford it unless I sell the Luger. I don't know how to sell on the internet auction sites and would really like to have the buyer able to look at it person so we are both satisfied with the deal. I am located in Lufkin TX about 110 miles from Houston and 250 miles from Dallas. THanks for any assistance you can give. Kenny |
Kenny,
For starters, look at the posts in these Forums to find out what kind of pictures best display the features of a Luger, then take those pictures of your gun and post them in the "For Sale" section, along with the price you hope to get for it. If no agreeable deal happens, then figuring out the internet sales organizations may be your next best option. Being a walk-in at a gun show with a Luger is not an effective way to get full value for your gun. --Dwight |
Hi Kenny,
Dwight, once again - is right on.... Honestly, I'd trust the folks on this site, and have purchased from a few of them over the past years. So, if you'd like - you can post it here: http://forum.lugerforum.com/forumdis...s=&forumid=139 with a detailed description, your price and some pics would be great..... A 1918 Erfurt, you say?? ;) Best to you! John D. |

pictures, full info and price ;) |
I will take a ton of pics this weekend of the gun, and the holster, loading tool, and both mags and post them.
I will nix the idea of the gun show I figured I would sell low and buy high at it anyway. Thanks for all the info guys. Kenny |
Kenny, if it's a complete rig like you say you'll get a fair price for it right here. I just bought a 1918 Erfurt and couldnt' have done it without these fine fellows...

I met Kenny yesterday and consumated purchase of his 1917 Erfurt.
Recent history on this gun documented by papers that accompanied it. It was taken by the owner, a Dutchman, with him when he moved from Australia to Holland in 1980. When he died in 2001, it was given by his widow to her brother who lives in Lufkin, Tx. The brother subsequently sold it to Kenny in Feb of this year. The widow does not know how her husband originally aquired the gun. |
