Bohler Barrel

on a 1942 BYF Luger? Is it possible or is this a replacement barrel? Would such a barrel reduce the value of the Luger itself? If so, what estimated percentage? Thanks to all.

Hairy -

Is the barrel numbered to the gun? If so, do the numbers appear identical in shape and size to those on the frame?

While I can't make out the numbers confidently (from a photo), they appear to be the same shape and size as the numbers on the frame, so the answer would be a qualified Yes.

This rings a little bit in the back of my head?

Is it marked Bohler or is it marked BO and a number?

I think if it is Bohler on the barrel, it is a replacement, but post war. I have never heard of a WW2 gun with a bohler marked barrel.

Correction: Please disregard the question; the owner of the Luger sent me the wrong photos (1913 Erfurt) and just let me know of the mistake. I appreciate the responses. FYI: It was Bo 24, not Bohler.

Hairy,

It would be interesting to know all the details of this pistol. B¶hler Stahl was the supplier of steel for some DWM barrels, but it is not known as a supplier for Erfurt.

Dwight,

I'm sorry.

In my haste to stop anyone researching needlessly, I made the mistake of saying it was an Erfurt; I re-read the email from the owner and he said it has a DWM toggle. Boy, talk about one error leading to others!!!!

In that case, you might want to go to this discussion Jan Still's B¶hler Steel Survey and add this gun to the list.
