Early G date magazine on Ebay

Just saw this and thought maybe someone may be looking for one. You do not see these for sale often. And no it is not my auction.

I believe that is a K-date magazine, used for the last variation K-dates in the early "a" block. -- Bill

According to Jan Still's Book, Third Reich Lugers, the K-Dates went to about 930a. That makes Bill right again!!! :D

I was winging it just on the proof mark alone. I knew that early G dates had the B|90 proof.

Bill has a fabulous and extensive database of information on Luger production, and serial numbers, and who knows what else... He shares it with us in spoonfulls instead of a firehose...

Bill, I hope someday, you will recognise that your destiny is to write a book about this subject and share it with the world... There are over 3200 members world-wide on this forum... I am sure you would have a market sufficient for a first printing... or you could go the e-book route... Just do it! Please!

Thanks to Bill, and all the "old-timers" for being part of this information share that we call the Lugerforum.

yah, yah, I already told him I'd ghostwrite a book, the sad thing is that he comes up with most of this from memory!

Hi Frank, John, and Ed,
Thanks for the kind words. Hopefully one of these days we'll get together and share some tall tales ...... smiling ......... Bill

I was thinking it would be nice to have a display of Lugers here on the forum, and do something like one a week. Since I can not run a camera good enough to do this, it will have to wait until one of you guys come visit and take the pictures. Thought one could go through the Banners Police Lugers starting with the 1938 E/K and go all the way through the 42 two digit examples and ect., with detailed pictures of each example. Could do the same with the Mauser military and the WWI stuff. Was just a thought and you might keep that in mind for a project in the future. Sounds like a good job for Ed and then each week he could post another example. --- smiling --- Bill

My weimar collection isn't done yet ~~grinning~~ but give me time. So, Bill just send me your lugers and I'll be glad to take pictures, I should be back in the house Monday! ;)

But, it is a good idea....\

Ed

PS: My wife just bought a new digital camera, I am thinking this fall I would come over, and spend two days, take a couple of hundred pictures (or more), do it scientifically Bill, so we'd know what each gun was and special things about it, keeping track with a number or other system. Maybe use a blue drop cloth, instead of the kitchen tablecloth :D

Frank 08-10-2005 02:18 PM

Bill, you can send your Lugers to Ed, if you wish, just route them through my house first!!! :D
