new luger owner
Hello all....I am new to the scene and after 35 years of wanting one, have finally purchased my first Luger. It is an all matched 1916 Erfurt, no orig. mag, bore is excellent. I will post pictures soon but first have what I believe is a common problem and question. The gun would stovepipe with the mag that came with the gun. I bought an original WWII Mauser manufacture mag and with Fiocchi 124 gr. rounds the gun fired error free. I then bought a box of Winchester 124's and I couldn't get it to fire more than 2 rounds without a problem. I know the usual problem is the mag and or a combination of mag and ammo. Since this mag has worked perfectly before, any suggestions on ammo? Can 145 gr. be fired in the gun or is this too much round for the gun?....Thanks.......Glen

Glen,
First off, pick up a Mec Gar magazine. Second, make sure that you are gripping the Luger firmly and not "breaking" your wrist when it fires. Thirdly, if your 1916 Erfurt is in very good condition, collection quality, you might want to consider picking up another one in not nearly as good condition to shoot. --Dwight |
Dwight,
Thanks for the advise. Nec-Gar mags on the way. Will let you know how they work. Glen |
Glen, I'd recomment Winchester 115gr ball ammo for most WW1 PO8s. TH

I'm in full agreement with Tom. 115 gr. is easier on the pistol.

...and at Wal-mart, it is only $11.00 a box of 100 (or less)...
