Just got my 1st Luger today! Just was wondering what you guys think. Got it from Simpson Ltd. I'm not going to shoot it, just for my WWII Collection.

Hi Mike,
Nice WWII piece. There is a part-time Luger Forum member named Art Buchanan that lives in MO that might be able to help with your left grip chip...I am not sure if he is offering this service anymore or not. It has been 2.5 years since Art did a grip repair for me. Since your '41 byf is well into the "w" suffix serial range, you might keep an eye out for some authentic "black widow" grips...as they seem to command a little higher price preminum when it comes time to resell. I have both for my '41 byf... |
Congratulations with a nice Luger Mike!
I advice you to look for "46" stamped inside the grips, if so they are matching to the rest. It's a shame to replace matching parts;) I have some original bakelite (black widow) grips if interested. |

Thanks! Mike |
Hi Mike, for a 41 byf in the W-Block, the pistol was probably shipped with either an aluminum or black plastic bottom un-numbered fxo marked magazine. Either one is a bit pricy but often found on eBay.
Morgan is correct in his advice about the grips being numbered to the pistol. If they are I would recommend you do nothing or if you have them repaired, let a professional do it!! Congratulations!! |
I wasn't suggesting getting rid of the wooden grips...just have them repaired and picking up a 2nd. pair of BW grips...keep them both for resale time...:)

Grips
The grips number is either 06 or 09 I don't know which.
|
Mike, they should have the last two of the serial number, so it would have to be either;
06 or 60 09 or 90 If it looks like 09 then it must be 09... Ed |
