1916 Arty...
This 1916 Arty sold a month or so ago on Gun Broker for $ 1630 :
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...?item=31671676 Now it has a cheapo repro Arty rig added and a boosted sales price of $ 2450... http://www.phoenixinvestmentarms.com/16arty.htm Capitalism at work...I guess... |
Jeez Pete,
You are such a synic, that the PIA link puckered up and went away. I cannot imagine that "They" would do anything like that!!! |
It takes all the fun out of collecting.........
|
And money out of wallets...
|
I'd bet that gun will be in Chantilly this weekend.

Is that the arty they currently have on GunBroker? I tried to view the extra photos to compare it but it wouldn't let me view them.
|
their site appears to be down, someone must have voo-doo'd them...
|
I hate to see anyone's web site go down...especially one with such great photos that provides excellent "learning" experiences...hope they get up and running soon. No one deserves to be hacked...ever !
There did not appear to be anything wrong with the 1916 Arty for sale, the previous time on Gun Broker or this time through Tom and Ralph at PIA. Just thought members should keep an eye out for each other when a luger is "turned over" for an unreasonable price...cannot see a repro LP-08 rig being added and having the gun's value jump by $ 800-900...this gun was just not that nice to start with...I did not think the gun was worth even $ 1400 the first time on G-B auction... |
Here's one that's a bit questionable. Not an artillery, but since we're on the topic.
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...?Item=35222862 1. The holster looks 30 years older than the belt. 2. What makes it a Berlin police pistol? The buckle? 3. Why are they afraid to show the sideplate? Notice it was "convieniently" removed to highlight the sear safety. Kind of brings to mind the habit of used car lots "forgetting" to close the sun/moon roofs on used cars during the rainy season. "OOPS! It just smells like mildew because the lot boy left the roof open. It doesn't leak." |
Ron, didn't someone on the forum raise the red flag on this seller a week or two ago?
|
Yes Sir! In fact the red flag is in tatters by now.

Cost of the added repro artiy rig :
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=6535752680 The single big fat shiny washer on the one screw is a tell tale ID... |
Maybe I am missing something here.
(1) the holster on Ebay stated that it is a repro 21 bids have put it at $240 something dollars. That seems a bit high but people were told that it is a repro. (2) It was mentioned that the police luger had a sear safety. That makes it a police 1914 DWM. Click on the "More picture" tap. There is a slight picture of the side plate and it is numbered to the gun. Its got some pitting and looks rough but its look proper for the gun. (3) The 1916 arty looks rough but it looks all there and not messed with from what I can tell from the pictures. $1631 looks a bit high but prices are going crazy now. The holster sounds authentic but its rough. But the 22 bidders are over 21 so maybe they saw something. (4) I am a little shell shocked right now though. I looked at the militarywarehouse site. There was a 1916 navy there and it sold for $4500. Beautiful gun with matching mag but thats one heck of a price for a Model 1914. www.militarywarehouse.net Lottsa stuff there but its already been well picked over on the first day. Big Norm:banghead: |
Norm,
You need to get out more. That gun is very reasonably priced, if not close to being a bargain. Tom A |
Norm,
The arty sold for $ 1630 on G-B when it had a real holster. The current sellers at PIA took the real holster away and added a repro set that was previously purchased on e-Bay for $ 240. Now the arty and repro holster is priced at $ 2450 on the PIA site... Run-away capitalism...is this not...? |
