Hi Ron,

This one is # 6158...not on your list. I think I see "58" on the right side of the take-down lever and the ad says it is not Germany stamped...and that some small parts do not match...

Another out-of-range Test Eagle ( # 6032) was just posted over on Jan Still's Gun Board...by a fellow named Pistol Pete in the early luger section...

Yep, got that one too. Count now stands at 18 "below range", 312 "in range" and 123 "above range".

The Gun-Broker seller will probably email you. He did not know what he had and was getting lots of offers at $ 1500 cash for his pistol.

I have also invited him to join the Luger Forum and to look around at your TE Listing and read about TE's in the Early Luger section.

He has some other nice lugers as well...including a carbine...

I just don't get it. Why would anyone email a seller and inform him that he may want to do more research on an item that he has placed on auction?

Pete, did it ever occur to you that someone may have had an interest in this Luger? I had emailed the seller asking for additional information and was waiting for his response when your post showed up. In my opinion, it is the sellers responsibility to do his own research for an item he may wish to put on the market and to determine at what price he will sell.

He has sent me an email informing me that he has taken it off the market in order to do more research. It was removed after bids had been placed which is a violation of Gunbroker policy. I am not a bad guy, but those that had placed bids may not be so nice and could leave some negative feedback for the seller.

I am sure that I am not the only one that feels this way; probably the only one that was ticked off enough to put it in writing.

His reserve was at $ 5200...so I think he had some idea of value...

I sent a polite email to him through G-B so he might revise his description of the piece...nothing more. He was really confused by the low-ball offers, off G-B, to buy the luger out right...

It's nice to be nice, but it's better to be a winner.

It is the same on e-bay, I have seen a seller offer an item for "buy-it-now" and it was a low amount, the buyer pays for it, but the seller receives e-mails from people who tell him the price was waaaay to low.... So the seller refuses to sell.

I am sorry, research first, as I don't feel I am ripping anyone off who publically offers an item and then finds their price was too low.
