What happend here?
 

I used some old ammo ..again:icon501:
Don't see any damage on the rest of the rounds or the pistol (Luger).
Have a quite a lot of this ammo, so kinda want to use it up.. but not so sure they are safe to use anymore.

I think : corosive primer perhaps with mercury = don't use them.

Patrice is correct. The mercuric primers have impregnated the brass, making it brittle. It could damage your chamber.

If those are Pakistani or Indian and if they are as bad as the .303 I've attempted to fire which was made there then I'd definitely not shoot it in any gun I cared anything about. As far as the case, it can be a combination of weak/brittle case walls (happens after several reloads in rifles and hot loaded .38/.357 rounds) and overpressure in the chamber. Did you notice any difference in recoil with the ammo? I have read about guys who bought a cases of Indian .308 and threw it away after examining it. Be sure you wear safety glasses.

Best not to use the rest then! This is the last time I purchase old ammo just because it's cheaper than new from the store..

I didn't notice any difference in the recoil or anything special when fireing them.. I think it's some old US or british military ammo.

Cracks up towards the case mouth are actually pretty common on re loads. If a round has been reloaded a number of times it will eventually crack on fireing. I have sorted thru all my brass and find some everytime. I throw them away of course but it seems to happen often to me and I would say it was unavoidable. I have never noticed any ill effects from one of these and nothing out of the ordinary can be detected apon fireing.

thanks for the info tacfoley! Tought this ammo was made in US or UK, and feelt sure it was ok. The rest of my ammo will be thrown away.. there is a chance that I have forgotten this lesson in a few years;)
