Rework Erfurt 1918 police
I see this luger on Simpson site :
http://www.simpsonltd.com/product_in...roducts_id=717 So my question is it a DWM recever on it ? |
Dear LU1900, You suspect that the receiver is a DWM because there is no notch to accomodate an artillery sight, typical of late WW1 Erfurts? This indeed appears to be the case here but I'm not certain that ALL 1918 dated receivers had notches, but certainly MOST did.

I think you can count on all 1918 Erfurt receivers having the Artillery sight notch. The Luger pictured has a DWM-style heraldic-eagle power proof on the right receiver.

So , Dwight , it's a rework with DWM parts as I see in first ...
|
Further examination of the pictures show that there are no Erfurt inspection stamps in the expected places--trigger, magazine release, takedown lever, sideplate, barrel, breechblock, extractor, rear toggle piece. It is difficult to tell, but the breechblock proof suggests DWM rather than Erfurt.
I believe the only Erfurt piece on this Luger is the center toggle. --Dwight |
