What Next?

Headlines today in the NY Times

BRITONS PUSH KNIFE CONTROL

"Three medical experts in Britain are urging kitchen knife manufacturers to redesign their wares as a crime control measure. They say a third of all murder victims in Britain are now stabbed to death and they want the sale of long, pointed knives to be banned."

--------

The instrument should be banned that way the bad guys can't use them right? It seems crooks who can't use guns are using something just as lethal?

Gasp !! Maybe it'll be hands next so that no one can be strangled.

Mark, this sounds like an April Fools joke...

Cars kill how many folks a year...

I was very surprised to notice that the 9-11 hijackings were perpetrated with knives (box knives) and the gun lobby did not make a great noise stating that "knives don't kill people, people kill people".

It would have effectively put an end to the handgun control issue.

(As a side note: brittain has banned BB guns. Brilliant!)

The only point at which this will stop is when they ban golf clubs. Listen to the roar then.

Next they will have to ban files, so they can't sharpen the kitchen knives.

Or maybe they will require rubber scissors and nurf cricket bats.

Tac,

Well said! And duely noted.

tac,

Please note that I have decided to not reply (I am on an ink saving campaign) because of a sense of politeness.

Very gentle jab here Tac, but we capitalize "Sunday" and "Saturday", but I'm not sure about "Alabama"....best of the hoilday to all.

Dear tac,

With all due respect, I don't believe anyone here intended to offend either you, personally, or your country, Great Britain.

Frankly, I hold Great Britain in high regard . . . perhaps moreso than any other European country. My first North American ancestor emigrated from England in 1642 and settled in what is now North Carolina.

Cheers.

Tac, Luke is right on the button, Wess certainly meant no insult. Although you bast--ds fought with us in 1776 and then had the audacity to burn the White House in the War of 1812, you are still one hell of a stand-up crowd. I've been proud as hell of our britttish brothers ever since I was old enough to reed. And that extends to our britttish brothers who live on the botttum of the world as well. It takes ballls to fight for what is right regardless of the political consequences. Must be an Anglo Saxon trait.

Tac,

As the starter of this "thread" I did not want to offend you and I apologize if I offended you with the article I saw in the liberal New York Times. In the Clinton era the CDC (Center For Disease Control) and the American Journal of Medicine teamed up to skew statistics on gun violence to help with various bans on firearms.

When the medical community declares a type of "tool" is a health hazard the population begins to believe it.

So, ever vigilant, we should be aware of the storm.

Best to you my friend...

Mark

P.S. If you are ever in the second most liberal state ... Massachusetts ..... next to New Jersey, send me an email and will have some fun with guns!
