Odd Swiss Chamber...
...Odd Swiss luger chamber marking on a gun on the Simpson LTD web site...
Has anyone seen one like it before ? Or are we seeing some photographic distortion...? http://www.simpsonltd.com/product_in...oducts_id=1360 http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/swiss_chamber.jpg |
That is odd. Never saw anything like it. It almost has to be an "aliasing" effect, but everything else in the photo is so sharp it is hard to believe. Sure would like to see another image taken from a different angle.

Ron, you are right about the "clarity" of the photo, but the little bit of contrast and brightness adjustments and enlargement I have done seem to indicate that the original and correct swiss emblem has been "customized" by the addition of intersecting lines. I would also like to see a sharp photo of this area looking directly down at the emblem...

I might be at the shop this coming Tuesday...if so, I will take a closer look then.

Darn...gun shows it is sold as of Saturday...would have liked to see it in person...

I know the opportunity to check this out has passed, but this looks like a classic example of "Moire effect", which I have encountered more than once in moving digital photos & scans to websites or offset printing. Maybe someone should call Simpson before it ships?

Bob,
That is the word I was groping for when I wrote "aliasing", and I think you are correct. |
