FXO Mag Question
 

Can anyone confirm if a FXO plastic bottomed mag is correct for a "z" block 41 byf Black Widow?


Also, how fragile are the plastic bottomed fxo mags, do they crack easily when used? mm

I can tell you that they most definitely DO crack if dropped!
 

Use modern Magazines for shooting and save the originals in their current condition for your collection...


GT should be able to tell you about the appropriateness of your FXO for the 'z' block... but he probably has his hands full with a computer virus at the moment...

Hi,

The byf 41's started out in the N block and went into the B block. N,O,P,Q,R,S,T,and U block guns most likely had numbered magazines. V,W,X,Y,Z,No Suffix, A,and B blocks had either a blank alumium base fxo or a black plastic fxo magazine.

Thank you for the responses. I don't intend to do much shooting with my byf 41 and fxo mags, but I did read that the fxo's were better made and superior performing mags.


I plan to shoot it for the first time soon to make sure it functions properly. I purchased the correct loading tool for $35 at a show and an extra fxo blk plastic bottom mag to complete my rig. Over the next few months I will shop for a good shooter, perhaps an East German arsenal rework.

When you get ready for a shooter, Mr. Tom Heller and Ralph Shattuck usually have several for sale. Tom has some listed now in the classified section of the Forum. Both these guys will treat you right on the price and they deliver what they advertise. Tom also has parts for the pistols too; he also has some repro magazines that can used in a shooter at prices better than original magazines and you don't have to worry about them so much.

Years ago I dropped a 1910 with original non matched mag on a linoleum floor-the bottom broke into approximately one zillion pieces-never used an original magazine again.

If you're gonna be stupid you better be tough.
