e-Bay Refinisher's Services...

Never heard of a gunsmith auctioning off his gun refinishing services...

Nice before/after photos of a German revolver rework...

Pete I used to see this on Ebay, but it was for bolt jeweling. Other boards they advertise to refinish magazines. This guy may run afoul of the law if he is only a C&R holder. By rights he should have a regular FFL as he is conducting a business.

Doug, are you sure about this? Yes, He is conducting a business but not the business of buying and selling guns. He should be able to recieve a gun sent to him if he were to send a copy of a C&R. The problem might be in sending it back without a licence. It has always been my understanding you did not need a licence to get a gun you own back. I have not read up on it lately so I may be blowin smoke...Maybe one of the more knowledgable members could chime in. Jerry Burney

Jerry, you are correct about not requiring a FFL to get back a gun you have shipped to a FFL for repair or refinishing, but the C&R license does NOT entitle you to receive non-C&R weapons in interstate commerce, nor to engage in any kind of business like the of repair of firearms. You can receive C&R weapons for either enhancing your own collection, or for evaluation or appraisal, but not as a business. That takes a standard FFL.

Logging the weapons received in Interstate Commerce into your C&R book and then back out again, when they were not C&R will earn you a nice set of adjustable stainless steel bracelets that are joined together at the center, the first time your books are audited by ATF, or if one of your shipments is opened for inspection...

John, As I recall you are quite correct! The C&R is specifically to enhance a collection. I better stick to holster repair...Jerry Burney

Jerry,
I just sent you a PM.
Thanks, Tony

Tony, I got it and sent you a PM and an Email...Shoot me your phone # and perhaps we can hook up in Houston. Jerry

John hit it on the head. It is the interstate commerce that is the main problem. Secondary is the "conducting" business part that is a no no for a C&R holder. The ATF cannot fine anyone, but they can confiscate guns and turn you into the IRS for a tax anal probe!:D
