Tsar Boris III Parabellum
Hello to all,
I was looking at the Bulgarian National Museum of Military History when my attention was kept by this Bulgarian Parabellum. According to the Museum description this Parabellum belonged to the Tsar Boris III . It should be interesting to keep in touch with the Museum to know the history of this pistol. Do you have any information about the fact that the Tsar held a Parabellum? Let me know your opinion. http://www.md.government.bg/nvim/_en/index.htm Ciao Mauro :bigbye: http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/o29sm.jpg |
Mauro, I seems unlikely to me that a Russian Tsar would have purchased a M1908 Bulgarian military contract luger direct from DWM. It's certainly possible that he picked it up in the aftermarket, but I seriously doubt that it was made with the fancy grips, specifically for him. TH

just speculation on my part, but since the gun is in a government museum in Bulgaria, perhaps the guns was presented to the TSAR as a gesture for the purchase contract???

Ehm,
Boris III was the Bulgarian Tsar, not a Russian one. Came to power in 1918 and it would not be unlikely for a Bulgarian ruler to have a Bulgarian army pistol. Could have been either a company presentiaton or one made by the military. |
