Firing pin modification
Could anyone tell me if WW I Lugers that continued into Weimar, (1920), service had their firing pins vented 'officialy', as a local modification or probably a change made much later in a gun's life, (post WW II) ?
Thanks, Stu |
yes, it was supposed to be done, unsure the exact regulation, but you do find them unvented.

Most Weimar reworked lugers still have the original unmodified firing pins. I have seen a few WW1 era PO8s with modified (vented) FPs, but I suspect that it was done after 1933. TH

Thanks gentleman. I'm looking at a 1913 / 1920 Erfurt with 3 vents cut into the firing pin and trying to work out if it was an 'in service' mod or post war. The vents are reasonably nicely executed and consistent but somewhat larger than the single one found on later pistols.
