Re: more grip pictures
Is there any easy way to distinguish Original Black Plastic
grips from reproduction or import grips?Do the original grips have manufacturers'or proof marks'present?I recently examined a 41 BYF in the W Block, this weapon had the Black Plastic Grips. The Grips fit the weapon very well. The backs of the grips were smooth. There was a threaded well on each grip.I understand this 'Well'was used to remove the grip from the mold. There were no markings of any type on the grips. Any help will be greatly appriciated. Tom |
Re: more grip pictures
Hi Tom! The ability to identify original BW grips is not to hard, but it does require that you have access to a known original pair to study and note...after this bit of effort, most times you will be able to tell without taking them off the pistol, although to be sure I would request to see the back side, if you are in any doubt. The original bakelite plastic seems to have a shine of it's own, on the edges or borders. Most if not all repro's would not exhibit this shine, also the originals (with wear & tear) have a dirty look all there own also.......and there is also the threaded hole, which at least up till now, seems unique to the originals. There are some excellent BW posts that can be accessed through our search feature! Good luck! till...later....G.T.
