How do I take apart the mag to clean it???

You don't....ever....you use a mild solvent and high pressure air to blow it out clean..you can as you are cleaning it, depress the follower and clean as you go and then back to blowing it out....

It messes them up, taking them apart, and folks that want them apart, usually screw them up?

The follower is particularly difficult to remove without damaging some of the parts.

The pin which retains the wood, plastic, or metal bottom is easy to remove but almost impossible for an inexperienced collector to replace without a special fixture. Many, many magazines show a buggered-up area where the bottom pin has been forcibly replaced and the surrounding metal has been damaged because of the difficulty of proper alignment.

Having ruined a couple of otherwise good magazines early on, I speak from experience.

What type of solvent???

I have used brake cleaner from auto parts store and an old toothbrush. First try dishwashing liquid and elbow grease. Like the guys said. " Don't mess with the mag". I have resorted to 00000 steel wool in the brush.

Any good gun solvent will work, hope this helps
