Anyone tried fitting original p-08 grips to an Interarms Mauser p-08?
The original Interarms Mauser p-08 grips are quite blocky and lack that wonderful Luger feel. I was wondering if anyone had fitted a set of original configuration p-08 grips to an Interarms Mauser Parabellum? I know that the grips would have to be relieved for the grip safety and holes for the small locator pins added, other than that, would original p-08 configuration grips fit? They would really improve the feel of these nice guns.
Thanks! JD |
Hi JD,
You might consider having the 06/73 grips reshaped and recheckered instead. |
JD,
The P08 grips don't match with the 06/73 Mauser Parabellum grips. In general also the LP08 and P08 commemoratives grips that do not have the grips safety do not match with the P08 grips. Look at Ron Wood explanation in the following topic for more info: http://forum.lugerforum.com/showthre...hlight=counter |
Thank you very much!!!!! I thought that someone here would know the answer. Too bad that Mauser chose to use the grip configuration they did with the blocky edges, it totally changes the wonderful luger feel of the originals. I still like the Interarms Mausers, but they could have made a really good gun into a great gun with original contour grips!
Thanks again!!! |
JD,
I have sanded the coarse checkering off and recheckered several pair of the new Mauser grips. This makes them thinner and the finer checkering feels much better when shooting the gun. |
JD,
I recommend that you ask Hugh to rework your grips. He did a set for me and he is a real craftsman. |
JD, I HIGHLY recommend Hugh, he has redone many Luger grips for me and some of them he removed checkering that was too coarse then he reshaped the edges and recheckered to proper Lines per inch. He is a MASTER at grip work. I ONLY use Hugh for my restorations projects!

Thanks everyone!!! Hugh's grip work looks fantastic, so I have the grips for my two Interarm Mauser Parabellums in the mail to him this morning. I'm really looking forward to having two shootable "lugers" that don't feel like I'm holding a 2x4 in my hand!!!
Thanks again to all!!! |
