1908 First issue just arrived today.
Just received today this 1908 first issue undated DWM.
http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/122_2269_1.jpg Early serial number 8885 no suffix, Arsenal fitted hold open, All matching numbers. Unit marked 66.RMG.16 http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/122_2265_1.jpg serial numbers in commercial style. http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/122_2271_1.jpg About 95% original blue and straw. Has a small dent in the side plate. Last two digits on the under side of the side plate. I bought it in a local auction by postal bid, sight unseen! http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/122_2276_2.jpg I understand it was captured early in WW1 by a NZ soldier. What do you think? Complete with mag also MG marked, holster and spare mag. Regards Murray. |
Loverly!! Looks right as rain, right down to the small secondary crown on the Crown/Z proof. Neat that it has a MG marked magazine. Any chances of a picture of it? A First Issue is one of those cornerstone pieces for a collection. Glad you got a nice one and unit marked to boot.

LDU,
Great looking first issue. It looks to be in excellent condition and all of the attributes look to be as they should. Sight un-seen, I assume you mean you didn't even have pictures of it before purchase? Gutsy move that paid off very well. Was it a good price, or did you just trust the seller? Either way this one is a winner! Bob M. |
Yes, I agree with you, I was very very lucky.
It was described as a "German Commercial 1908 Model Luger pistol" Undated chamber, no stock lug, hold open, with military acceptance marks and unit marked. There was a little tiny photo about 3/4" square. Apart from a little "ding" on the side plate, the gun is in excellent condition and all stacks up correctly according to Lugers at Random page 161 and Jan C Still Imperial Lugers page 20. Holster has a crown over III on the rear but cannot read the makers name or date. Price was $1050.00  |
Congratulations!
I wish mine was that nice. And a holster to boot. Unit mark is 66th Regiment Machinegun Company, weapon #16. MG company marked Lugers are one of my favorites. Beautiful stamping on that one also. I am envious. Ron |
