I find this sale as original hard to believe. Why would the Swiss government give up this documentation?SWISS LUGER PATENT DOCUMENT

I have had several dealings with the seller and he is a straight-up fellow.

If I had $ 10K free that I wanted to spend on paper (I think I would rather buy 2-3 Swiss lugers instead...), I would ask the seller to provide certified statements in writing from the Swiss government and the Bern/Thun museum folks and/or the Bern patent office folks that they would not contest such a sale. Think I would involve a lawyer and some State Dept. folks as well.

This is not mentioned to impune the integrity of the seller. Andrew is beyond reproach.

Rather, I would hope a prospective buyer would not experience the same heartache that Mike Krause experienced last year when buying and then returning the B-L # 5, when the Swiss authorities contested the sale and took actions/steps to have the pistol returned to CH...

I don't think it is 'the' document, but rather 'a' document. Remember, approved patents needed to be distributed throughout the country, also several copies needed to be stored for future reference.

The Swiss have digitized most (if not all) of their patent documents and this may mean that part of the documentation is being disposed of.

Amtsexemplar probably only means that it was government property. Nothing more, nothing less.

Correct. However, the original certified patent is always issued to the patentee, in this case G. Luger. I don't know whether this was Mr Luger's patent document.

If it were Georg's example, I doubt it would have 'amtsexemplar' on it.
IMO this is simly one of the copies distributed to one of the patent offices in Switzerland.

I'd rate this document to some 500 - 1000 USD tops. The 10,000 USD asking price is rediculous.
