Mag Question
I have a phosphated unmarked Luger mag that came with a "shooter". It has an aluminum base with one pin. Would this be an aftermarket mag or some weird variation? Weren't some of the last Lugers made by Mauser exported and phosphated?

Mark, I have one of these also. I think that they are either for the byf Portuguese contract, or post war for who knows what? Do a search in the archives for parkerized mag. I had a post from a year or so ago on these.

Thanks Doug, it came on a "shooter" luger that had been rebarreled with what one well known dealer told me might have been a Portuguese marking on the replacement barrel.

The byf 42 Lugers and FXO type extruded magazines that were part of the Portuguese contract were indeed "parkerized" or phosphate finished... If you mag is sheet metal and not extruded, it is probably post war manufacture... or an original mag that was phosphated after WW2.
