A photo of the top of the toggle would help, but by the proofs it an Erfurt made Luger made during WW1 period. All numbers match that I can see, looks like someone took a bit off of wood off the left grip, really hurting is value, if clip is matched would increase value, but looks to have a very nice original finish......please tell us chamber date or better yet a picture would be real nice....thanks and welcome to the forum!!

Thanks for the information, I will add 2 pix of the toggle and chamber now (if I do it right) the chamber date is 1918 and all numbers I can find match including the magazine. Any idea on current value?

Hi Mike. I'm a great fan of Erfurts and your's certainly looks nice. Are the grips numbered to the gun ? What condition's the sideplate in ?

Stu, the side plate is currently missing, my uncle (who I got the gun from) thinks he remembers where it is and is looking for it. (hope he finds it). The bore is excellent and judging by wear on the parts I would say its been fired very little, the grips are not numbered at all but the left one has a faint "N" stamped on the back. Any idea of value, not interested in parting with at the moment but am very curious. Also anything you can tell me about it would be appreciated.

Simspons LTD have a few Erufrts for sale...their prices are a bit high since they are a retail shop...prices between private collectors are usally 15% or more less expensive :

The chip in your left grip panels hurts price some but your missing side plate is a real problem if the original cannot be located and you replace with another one not numbered or not matching your pistols last 2-digit of the serial numbers. I also noticed your grip screws are not Erfurt proofed...

Does you magazine match the gun's serial number ? If not, that lowers price a bit too, as well.

By 1918 Erfurt's practice of inspector-stamping the grip screws had been abandoned.

Thanks for the input, yes the mag #'s match, the only problem is the missing side plate, if the side plate is lost forever, will the gun function correctly with any sideplate or does it need to be a particular model?

Any sideplate "could" work, but many of them were hand-fitted, so it can be iffy on how it will function.

With a replacement sideplate, collector value goes waaaay down, so have him look like a son of a gun for it.
