Interesting Holster
 

Hello All,

I hope the folks here can answer my question.

I have a 1918 dated luger holster made by Hans Deuter in Augsburg.

The loading tool flap is not typical. It is an longer piece of leather than usual and there is an extra piece of leather sewn on the holster flap which looks like it could hold a cleaning rod.

On the back of the holster is a crown with the roman numeral 1 below the crown.

I don't have a clue what the alterations and the crown and roman numeral 1 signify.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi,

You have a World War I period holster; the proof indicates it was intended for use by the Ist Bavarian Corps.

Your surmise on the "extra piece of leather" is correct. This feature was used until C.1935, when it disappeared.

The holster is in good shape for being that old. Of course it isn't perfect. What would a holster like this be worth?

Condition is 8everything*; having said that, it is I BK marked, so it is worth perhaps a 20% premium above a similar holster w/o proofs. I'd willingly pay $350 or so.

Hi Seaagg98,
* Without pictures, scans, or something more definitive than "good shape for being that old", no fair estimate of worth would be realistic.
* You know how it is: One man's "good" is another man's trash/treasure.
* As it stands right now $200 +/- $150 might be the range for a WW1 holster. Sort of a rags to riches swag.
