ATF sets new land speed record

My C&R FFL arrived today from Atlanta. I mailed the application & check on May 25! Seems like there isn't much of a backlog right now, so I'd urge anyone contemplating getting a C&R license to apply now -- it'll be the best $30 you'll ever spend!

So Hugh .... how's my Navy project coming along?

Q: Procedure and address?

Tony, What forms do you need; how do you get them and where do you send them? Thanks, Ad.

Here's how I did it

I downloaded the forms from http://www.titleii.com/forms.htm which has them available as PDF files (you'll need Acrobat Reader to open or print them out).

I believe the forms are available at several other sites, too, including BATF's own site.

You need the Form 7C&R. It has the directions on it, but basically it's a two-page form that you fill out twice -- one copy to send to BATF in Atlanta (their address is on the form) along with a $30 check; the second identical form must be given to your local Chief Law Enforcement Officer (chief of police, whatever). He DOES NOT have to sign it or anything; you just have to give him the copy to notify him when you send yours to ATF.

No other approvals or fingerprint cards, etc., required. The license is good for three years, so it works out to $10/year.

Re: Q: Procedure and address?

Just sent away for my C & R. I just e-mailed my local ATF division office, (they are under U.S Government - Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms), and got the application in the mail two days later.

Re: ATF sets new land speed record

I have had my C&R for 7 years now and have never been checked by the ATF, but they can do this anytime because I keep my records as perfect as possible.

When I first got my license, I had questions and a call to the ATF brought a very friendly and speedy answer for me. I don't care for some of thier tactics, but if you treat them with respect, I think they will do the same for you. Just FOLLOW THE RULES! When you receive the information package, READ the laws and understand them as best a possible. Call thier office with your questions and they will help. Treat them as you want to be treated and I think they will do you right.

Mine was also very fast...

mailed mine at the Atlanta Airport during a stopover April 12, and had my license by first week of May. So maybe this is the NEW tempo of the BATF??? Right On!

Re: ATF sets new land speed record

What can you do with a C&R FFL?

Can you have FFL dealers ship guns (pistols)directly to you without using an intermediary (FFLDealer)

How about non-FFL holders shipping to you and you to them?

How do you ship (US Postal / Fed-X / UPS)

Is a Luger classified as a C&R ( I would have assumed so seeing as the "interest" on the Lugerforum)

but

It IS a modern Cartridge Handgun.

Are "some" Lugers old enough to qualify as relics and others not?
