Re: Luke's suspected fake BW plastic grips
Hi John and Luke...
They do look like the diamonds are pointed-up differently then the originals that I have/have seen. In other words - the diamond pattern tends to be more "horizontal" then "vertical" and are cut to an imprecise pattern (as a part of the mold)... I have seen a Luger with a set like this on one of the auction sites about 2 - 3 months ago, and they were on a marked import, I believe... HTH..!! |
Re: Luke's suspected fake BW plastic grips
But they looked so good when I bought them . . . . . . .

I know....
however - you will find a set of "correct period" grips out there - it may take a while, though...
Honestly - Luke - if they look good to you, then they are just fine. By that, do NOT be discouraged by the fact that some of us think that they are not "original" - it really doesn't matter. What matters is that you enjoy that Luger!! As case in point - I have a mis-match G date - and to a "collector", it probably isn't worth all that much. But you know what? - I gave that G date to my Dad when I was 18 years old - so it is "priceless" to me.. My point here is that if it "looks good to you" then it is "good enough".... And I, for one - sincerely hope that this Luger begins the journey for you - which is about what "collecting" is supossed to be.... It's about the passion we all share for these firearms. And it's about the comradiere of this Forum - of which you are most welcomed to share that same enthusiasm... My Best to you Luke...... |

Re: I know....
Thanks, guys. Makes me feel good about being here. I hope this first Luger is just the first of many, and I am warming up to it, even with all its warts.

coarse checkered black plastic
These stocks appear, from the photo, to be Russian/Eastern bloc. I have had a pair and seen many many pairs on the lugers imported between 1995-1998. They appeared often as did the stocks with vertical "stripes". These stocks are notable for their very coarse checkering and I believe they would make excellent shooting stocks though one person reported to me these bit his hands. These stocks occassionally appear in brown plastic.
