'Die Pistole 08', short 6-page manual

Hi,

Received this one today.
Published in march, 1938 by Ludwig Voggenreiter Verlag in Potsdam.

It's basically a quick reference card style manual for the P08 and it discussed the overall functioning, parts, maintenance and how to resolve problems.

So far, nice but not spectacular.

What is interesting, is the handwritten remark on the top of page 1. This book appears to have been the property of
'Flieger Wolf, 3/FEA 13/11 Gruppen'
(Pilot Wolf, 3/FEA 13/11th group'

FEA 13 was the 13th division of the 3rd Flieger Ersatz Abteilung, a pilot instruction school in Oschatz, Germany. The training facility operated between 1936 and 1944.

John D.: This mr. Wolf may have been draggin along one of those anchor-thingies :D

Hi Roland,

It surprises me somewhat that so many different sources were used for training purposes, especially those of a commercial nature.

One would expect the use of army manuals...

Hi Gerben
You sure have a wonderful gift of turning up these wonderful items.

pisto 03-12-2005 04:09 PM

Gerben, may be the different training purposes are because they are used in different units, like Luftwaffe, Marine, Heer??
By the way, the guys handnote "Flieger" may not be because he was a pilot - "Flieger" is the lowest starting rank in the "Luftwaffe" I dont belive that was different in that early days.

Roland,

Good point. It does show that although we like to see things neatly catalogued and organized it's difficult to establish what was used at what occassion and at what point in time...

It appears that individual training facilities used individual documentation sources, rules, guidelines, etc...

It certainly makes the area of Luger-associated documentation a challenging one :)

(nice remark about the 'Flieger' rank).
