Just had to celebrate a bit. Friday was my last day after 32 yrs with USPS. I feel reborn. Went to work part time at a local gunshop on Monday. Finally doing something I really enjoy.

Hopefully will be at Reno in April, running some tables for my new employer. See ya there!

:cheers: Welcome to the ranks of the retired! I will have been retired 3 years this month and thoroughly enjoy it since I have more than enough things to occupy my time. The big plus is that they are the things I want to do and at my own schedule. The down side is that there isn't as much fun money available but not all that bad.

Congratulations. May you enjoy many leisure years! See you in Reno.

You said it exactly: It's like getting out of jail I suspect . . . . . . however, having never actually been in jail, this is pure conjecture. :)

I retired at 55 and never looked back. I only miss the people . . . . .and the money.

Let me add my congratulations to you Ron!
After living in California all my life I grew tired of the traffic, crime, gangs and the loss of my rights as a gun owner and decided to retire 3 years early. I retired on a Thursday and left Friday with a song in my heart and a smile on my face as I drove to northern Nevada to join my wife where we now live on 3 acres in the country 20 miles from town.

Now that you have joined the ranks of honest luger (and other gun) dealer, just remember not to revert back to your old ways and go "postal" on some potential buyer at the shows...:p

I've been retired for 10 years. Now a friend wants me to work for him for awhile. Man what a decesion. Maybe your new employer will pay in Lugers. Good luck and have fun (if you remember what that is).

I've been eligible for awhile, but will definitely be pulling the plug within 18 months. Boy do I look forward to having the opportunity to attend many of the premiere gun shows around the country. Hopefully, I'll have the priviledge at that time to meet many of the members of this forum. Enjoy and it's a good thing we can't see one another, my face is a little "GREEN"!

Congrats Ron... I, like Ed Tinker, am retired Army... but I prefer to call it Pensioned... since the retirement doesn't cover much more than just the house payment... I too have a new real job... and love what I do--supporting our Homeland Security efforts...


I don't think I will ever quite retire as long as I can make an beneficial contribution to society...

There is an old wives saying that defines retirement as twice as much husband and half the money :)

I found out yesterday that my new part-time gunshop job will be full-time for a few weeks. The owner is doing several gunshows in OR and CA over the next month.
The up side is that the "Bookkeeper" told me that as long as the bills are paid, and something goes to savings, I can keep 1/2 of what I make at the shop. More Luger money!! :D

Ya know, even though most of us would'nt know each other, if we met on the street. The support and commraderie displayed on both Luger forums is overwhelming. This is what makes them the best damn collectors forums in the world. The others can't hold a candle to them.
We have a few cat fights now and then, but everything always irons out. And we get on with it.

Retired? I thought that was what I did to the ole pickem up truck last
week. Just kidding. Congratulations to you. I am still a least another 20 years away before I can do that. Then it will a part time job just to stay out of my wifes way. Enjoy yourself.
