Aftermarket and Commerical Question

Some aftermarkets and Commerical firearms are not as collectable as Military or war time items.

Do the Lugers fall into this category?

Do Commerical or aftermarket Lugers exist?
If so, are they as collectable as ones with special markings from war time?

I think you need to jump around the forum and read all over. They made lugers from before WW1 to just after WW2, let alone the post WW2 lugers...

So, yes, they did and no they did not.

Buy all of Jan Stills books, that is a good start, as are the assorted posts here on the forum.

Also, I think it comes down to who you are talking to at the time. Lugers spent a great deal of the last Century being in production in literally over 1,000 variations, both commercial and military, with enough subsets and variations to meet most interests. "Collectible" is in the eye of the beholder. I know a guy that collects Jennings automatics and another that collects single shot, bolt action .22 rifles. Both are authorities in their field. More or less collectable than Lugers? I don't know. I've seen plenty of Lugers out there I wouldn't have in my house (and some I'd trade my house for).
