Give us some info on the Luger. Date,ser#, any markings, etc. What would you like to know about it, if anything?

Thanks for your quick response but it's Orygun not Auregone. I guess what I would like is either confirmation or information on this piece. I bought it in 1951 from the father of a friend who told me he took it from a German officer in France at the end of WWII. The serial number is 3078 and it, or just 78, is stamped on every part of the pistol and on both clips, one of which has a + just under the serial number which I assume indicates it's the "extra" clip. The top of the frame is stamped with the letter G and the toggle with S/42. From what I know these indicate a pistol made at the Mauser factory in 1934 and were coded since the manufacture was in violation of the Treaty of Versailles. There are also three stampings on the right side of the frame which I assume are proof marks and I would like to know what they indicate if you can make them out in this jpeg. I assume this is a collectors piece but I have no idea as to its approximate value but if it is fairly valuable I should get it added on my home insurance. Thanks for any information you can provide.

I was born in Cottage Grove and live in Springfield, between the Mac-kenzie and Willa-met rivers.;)

You have a very nice G date. They were made in 1935. The K dates were made in 1934. The marks are standard acceptance stamps and firing proofs. The + does indicate the spare mag. Is there a letter under the ser# on the front of the frame? Approx. 54,070 G dates were made.
A minty G date with both matching mags is worth $2000+. With holster and tool, $2500+. I'm not into Mauser lugers, so this is just an educated estimate. It could be worth more to some.

Well Ron we are practically neighbors. I took a look at the frame and sure enough there is some kind of "letter" stamp under the serial number though I can't tell what the letter is. Here's a pic, maybe you can tell me what it is and what it indicates. BTW, I do shoot this pistol on occasion. I handload for a buddy with a Glock and I also have a Ruger Blackhawk .357 convertible with a cylinder for 9mm. I Usually put a 115 gr FMJ over 5.1 gr of HP-38 but I get a lot of hangups. There is a little chip missing from the ejector and I suspect that's the problem. Can you tell me where I can find a parts supplier where I can get another ejector. I have kept the original, which is also chipped but it has the serial # stamped on it.

It looks like a cursive lower case e.
E-mail Tom Heller "lugerdoc" for parts. Do a seach and just use his forum name. He would probably have one.
Usually if you are getting hang ups. They can be traced to the magazine or the main spring. These are the usual culprits in a luger. Try a different mag. Also Tom Heller has new replacement Wolf spring kits. Sounds like a Tom Heller commercial , does'nt it?

Thanks for the info and I will get in touch with Heller. I did pick up a commercial magazine with no change in ejection problems. I noticed that I used the wrong terminology. It is the extractor and not the ejector that is chipped. Do you have any idea what the e indicates?

G Dates are a different breed, they started at the 2nd set, i.e. suffix letter a, so it is really the 50,000 odd one made.
