My first Luger 1936 S/42

Well I finally took the plunge and got a Luger. It's a S/42 1936 date s/n 2X92 with no suffix. It's all matching except for the sear and it's been blued. It came with two waffenampted mags and the holster for $705 after tax. How did I do? thanks, Bryan

Looks pretty good for a shooter Bryan... it has been refinished at some point, but if you got two good FXO mags with the Luger like the one shown in the photo... you did ALRIGHT...

Congrats! ...and enjoy!

Actually one mag is marked fxo with a eagle/37 and the other is marked 122 with e/37 proof.

Bryan,

Welcome. In my opinion you made a very good deal, especially if the bore is in good condition. The gun may have been dip blued but judging from the photos, it does not appear to have been buffed, the edges appear sharp. FYI, Hugh Clark here on the forum might be able to rechecker those grips. A nice gun for the money. Now you need a few boxes of Walmart Winchester ammo and some tin cans to shoot at. KFS

The one thing that bothers me is the left grip is pretty worn. I know that I could put some replacements on it too, since this is just a shooter. Do you know where I could pick up an extra set of walnut grips? I know you mentioned the other gentleman Hugh for restoring grips too.

There are always grips on e-bay.

There are guys that sell them also here on this forum.

I would be tempted to buy some pretty ones for shooting :)

Ah, I remember my first luger. I was 17... she was somewhat older and more experienced... and not as nice as yours. congrats!

Thanks for the information and warm welcome guys. I'll keep my eyes peeled for grips and Lugers for that matter. :D I know that I'm going to be learning very much in this forum.
