Scope mounting
http://forums.lugerforum.com/lfuploa...st_wwi_9mm.jpg
I come across this picture of a Luger with 16inch barrel, its a post WW1 9mm. I know the issue of mounting scoope or other sights has been up before, but does anyone know how this one has been mounted on? Is it commercial or have any army used it? |
Hi Morgan,
From the photo, it appears to be an old Stith or Griffin&Howe type side mount scope base. They have drilled and tapped the side panel above the left grip. As you can see, the scope is offset to clear the toggle. Weaver also made or makes an offset side mount very similar to this one, for the pre-angle eject Winchester Model 94 carbine. Ron |
That looks like the illustration from the old Pacific Arms catalog. They imported Lugers in the 1920s and offered an almost endless variety of barrel length and accessory options that you could order.

Hello Fellows,
I have extracted from my original 1920 Pacific Arms Corporation catalog a better scan of the picture. It is possible to read the type of scope as well as to see some mounting details. http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/p1.jpg Another interesting picture: http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/p2.jpg I hope this helps. Ciao Mauro :bigbye: |
