Have fun, check out the vapen auction 3/05 at this site. On the SigForum, it's reported that this estate contains 3000 handguns up for auction.

Anybody know what kind of rear sight is on the 2 tone gun? Looks attractive to me.

John Sabato 01-25-2005 11:11 AM

That is a Navy Luger rear toggle and sight Al...

Hey Russ,

It could be a M1914 Navy...(either 1916 or 1917 dated...).

Really pretty Loewe Borchardt with matching magazine. However, I have a little concern about the stock. It says it is "good" but no mention of matching and it is missing the "staple". Still, not a bad buy for under $9K.

Big Norm 02-28-2005 05:46 AM

Ron,
you say that the stock is missing the "staple". What is the "staple" that you are talking about?

Norm,
It is the attachment loop for the sholder strap. I was just trying to take a shortcut rather than writing it out...getting lazy I guess.

Ron,
this is a good chance to look at the front sight of a Loewes Borchardt. I THINK that you said that it differed from a DWM Borchardt in that it is adjustible. I can see a pin there that does not exist on my DWM. I keep thinking about the adjustible front sight on an artillery Luger. This sight obviously differs. I guess that I will have to keep watching gun shows for a Loewe Borchardt to see exactly how the front sight functions.

Norm,
It is the REAR sight that is adjustable on a Loewe Borchardt. The front sight is pinned but not moveable. If your DWM Borchardt does not have a pinned front sight, that is one more difference between the two versions.

Big Norm 03-01-2005 11:32 PM

Ron,
I had adjustible front sight on the brain from messing with the front sight on one of my artilleries. Then I saw the pin on the front sight of this Loewes Borchardt and made a mental connect. My DWM Borchardt does NOT have a pin in the front sight. The pictures of the above Loewes do not show the adjustible rear sight very well. So I guess that I will still have to go to a gun show to see the rear sight real well.
