Browning Holster Help Please

I bought this holster some time ago, looking for something to put my Radom into. But I believe this is a Hi Power holster, correct? It is lightly marked and shows use, but all stitching and loops are strong and intact. Can anyone help me with a value and decipher the German on the inner flap? Are these relatively common? It is the first I have seen. Thanks very much.

It is a browning hi-power holster not rare but getting harder to find.

One of the markings = WaA195

The other one = dla ?? Hard to tell from the pictures

Should be a date, but cannot tell from the pictures

Hi Paul,
* Sorry it has taken so long for someone to jump on this as I saw your post on Jan's Forum too.
* The maker's code/date are difficult to read from your pictures as they probably are in real time. Jan Balcar reports using a "blacklight" or ultraviolet light to aid in reading these stamped impressions. I have also resorted to sprinkling talcum powder or flour on these impressions, blew off the excess, and tried to read the highlighted results. The powder can be removed easily with a lightly damp cloth.
* Anyway: Assuming your 640(b) holster was made by "dla", I believe I see the remanents of a single digit "4" centered and directly below the "l". Your pictures suggest this mark is on the small closure flap. Coupled with the WaA195 acceptance, the maker would then be identified as Karl Barth, Milit¤reffekten-Fabrik. Barth examples can be found dated 41, 43, & 44
* If by chance this interpretation is not correct, an alternate could be "dta". The maker would be A.Waldhausen, Inh. M.Bruchmann, Sattler u. Kofferfabrik, Koln. They also carried the Waffen acceptance of WaA195; but, are only seen dated 41 with the marks stamped on the rear of the brown colored, smooth leather holster.
* Finally, be advised, some "dla 44" holsters were made for the Star Model B. These are similar to the dla holsters made for the Hi-Power except the magazine pouch is thinner leather. Don't believe this is the ccase with your; but, thought you'd like to know.
* Trust this will aid in you positively identifying your nice PT.
Respectfully,
Bob
